PLEASE JOIN OUR PETITION! We demand capital punishment for Jose Manuel Torres Yagi! In November 2005, HIROSHIMA, on her way home, AIRI KINOSHITA, a first grade girl was assaulted and killed by Peruvian man, Jose Manuel Torres Yagi (then 34). In July 2006, Torres Yagi was sentenced to life imprisonment at the Hiroshima District Court for sexually assaulting and killing AIRI KINOSHITA. The Prosecutors appealed the lenient sentence. "Unhealed pain in his heart, Mr. Kinoshita sat in the court room with his daughter's picture in his arms.The sentence only brought him mixed feelings. After the trial, AIRI's father Mr.KENNICHI KINOSHITA told the media that he wants AIRI to be remembered and DOES NOT want this kind of tragedy to happen to anyone any more. He was brave enough to choose not to withhold his daughter's name or the details of the sexual assault for prevention purposes. (translated from YOMIURI SHINBUN)" If he gets life imprisonment, that means he will walk free in the future. He will come back to live in our community and could repeat same crime again. Did you know that we DON'T have life in prison in Japanese criminal laws. An appeal hearing will begin this spring (2007) and we are determined to have our voice heard this time. We are not only demanding capital purnishment for Yagi just because he killed AIRI. Our movement is to show that we are tired of being scared and worried about protecting our children every time from monsters like Yagi. We demand a fair trial which is not based on the number of people he murdered or similar precedent in the past as many other murder cases followes.
